The academic master study program in Communication & MultimediaDesign was developed as an innovative study program in the Media & Design Academy since 1998. C-md students are educated to be professionals that have knowledge & competencies in the fields of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design and Audiovisual Design & Applications. C-md students are hub managers in high end multimedia environments. The master in C-md is jointly developed by the KHLim, the Hogeschool Zuyd (The Netherlands) and the Fachhochschule Aachen (Germany). The program offers an academic bachelor as well as a master so that students have a maximum of choice. Two years ago we also developed a premaster program which allows international bachelor students to obtain an academic master in C-md in a 2-year program.
The study program C-md is characterised by six key features:
• It is a humanity driven course
• Our core competence is to conceptualise original new media solutions
• New concepts are research based
• Student are offered as many options as possible
• Everyone belongs to a learning community
• The program has a strong international orientation
International students can participate within either the European Socrates framework or in another international set-up. We offer a special international study program in full English.
C-md is an international study program where Belgian, Dutch and German students study together.
In the Interfaculty building in the city of Maastricht (The Netherlands) we offer a wide range of course modules. Exchange students need a prior of at least two bachelor years of study. A full bachelor degree is required to participate in the premaster program.

The Royal Kingdom of Belgium (10,6 million inhabitants) is divided into the Flemish and the Walloon region. The Flanders region has approximately 6 million citizens which speak Dutch-Flemish and French, and is divided into 6 provinces. The province of Limburg borders Germany and The Netherlands.
Belgium is situated in the heart of Europe; did you know you can be in Paris within 1h20 or in London City within 1h30?
Did you even know that from our Brussels airport Virgin Express, Ryanair or Easyjet flies you to all European destinations (Barcelona, Roma, Berlin, Dublin, Madrid, Valencia, Milan, ...) for a low cost and a short travel distance? So why don't you consider Flanders as your starting point for discovering the rest of Europe. That is what we call an adventure.
The Media & Design Academy is conveniently located in the city centre of Genk. With more than 60.000 inhabitants, Genk is a lively and dynamic city in the green heart of the province of Limburg. The city of Hasselt is nearby and provides many cultural events and restaurants & pubs. So it is yours to discover.
You shall be studying in the first semester until the end of February in our Academy in Genk (Belgium). After that you shall study in our interfaculty building which is centrally located in the city of Maastricht (The Netherlands). Here you will study together with Dutch and German students. Current policies emphasise Maastricht's central location in Europe and its European image. In 1981 and 1991 the city hosted the summit meeting of the European Commission heads of state.
